Together we can make a real difference! Most of us are called to be a different type of missionary. But just like the missionaries in foreign lands, being a missionary from home requires sacrifices, prayer, and a love for the poor. When you contribute to our monthly giving programs, you are a co-missionary in our work.
Donations from these monthly giving programs may be made monthly, quarterly, annually, or semi-annually – whatever is convenient for you.
Mission-Friendship Club: This program supports education of seminarians as well as ministries of the Missionary Oblates. The future of the Missionary Oblates lies in the hands – and in the hearts – of our seminarians. They know the road ahead of them will not be an easy one – becoming an Oblate priest or brother requires years of study, prayer, discernment, and community living. It also requires a love for the poor and a selfless commitment to helping others build a brighter future. Members of the Mission-Friendship Club help support education of seminarians as well as ministries of the Missionary Oblates.
Your prayers and support will provide encouragement to our seminarians, like Bro. Fernando Velasquez, O.M.I. Everyone who knows Fernando speaks highly of him. He is outgoing, enthusiastic, and dedicated to helping others. The youngest of 13 children, Fernando grew up in an impoverished neighborhood in Mexicali, Mexico. Still, he does not long for material goods – he longs to make a difference in the lives of others, and with your help, he will! Donate Monthly to the Mission-Friendship Club.
Mary’s Circle of Friends: As Missionaries of Mary Immaculate, we look to the intercession of Our Blessed Mother to guide us in our ministries – and we invite you to join us in our prayers and in our work. This program supports the Oblates’ Sharing Fund which offers financial assistance to specific Oblate ministries and other organizations.
Many children love making frequent visits to their neighborhood library. Picking out a book to read at home is a great pleasure and a wonderful learning experience. Children in an area called El Pozon, near Cartagena, Colombia, did not always have such a resource.
In some regions of Colombia, there has been a long-standing, violent conflict between government troops and guerilla soldiers. Many of the people living in El Pozon, especially those who were most recently forced to leave their homes because of the conflict, live in poor to miserable conditions.
With the help of the Oblates’ Sharing Fund, Missionary Oblates in Colombia have been able to develop a small library for students from grade school age to the university level. Now, these students are able to find a peaceful place to further their education and to experience the joys of reading. Donate Monthly to Mary’s Circle of Friends.
Shrine Advocates: This program supports the on-going ministry and maintenance of the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows.
The pressures and worries of our lives can sometimes seem overwhelming. The Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows provides a welcoming place where visitors can find inspiration, rest, and comfort. After a visit to the Shrine, pilgrims say they are able to return home with a renewed spirit and a fresh outlook.
The Shrine staff takes special care to organize programs that fit the needs of people of all ages, backgrounds, and family make-up. Special events are offered throughout the year for youth, married couples, those who are divorced or separated, the widowed, and those with disabilities. Donate Monthly to Shrine Advocates.
Tekakwitha Indian Missions: Missionary Oblates work on two reservations – one in Sisseton, South Dakota, and one in White Earth, Minnesota.
Martin, a Native American man living in our Tekakwitha Indian Missions, is grateful for the good meals and companionship he receives at the Oblates’ Drop-In Center in Sisseton, South Dakota. Since unemployment on the reservation is very high, Martin struggles to find a job. The Drop-In Center provides a warm, welcoming place where people like Martin can gather, draw support from one another, and have a nutritious meal. Donate Monthly to Tekakwitha Indian Missions.
