Dear Friend,
As I read through the stories in this issue of Oblate Mission Friendship Club News, one word kept coming to my mind: bravery.
Father Jean Pierre Loubeau, O.M.I. is truly brave as he continues to minister in Haiti after being shot three times in a holdup.
Father Rafal Chilimoniuk, O.M.I. is brave as he ministers in Turkmenistan, a rugged country where there are very few Catholics because the faith was suppressed for decades.
Fifty years ago Fr. Urban Figge, O.M.I. was brave as he arrived in Denmark unable to speak the language but led by faith to establish a new parish.
More than 150 years ago a band of Oblates bravely brought the faith to the untamed state of Texas.
Because of the prayers and support of friends like you, the Oblates are willing to take on difficult ministries that require courage and great faithfulness. Please know that you are truly a co-missionary as we serve poor and needy people around the world.
The Missionary Oblates and I will be remembering your needs in our Masses and prayers. Please keep the Oblates who serve in dangerous locations in your prayers.
In Jesus Christ and Mary Immaculate,

Fr. John Madigan,O.M.I.
Oblate Director
