After 40 days of sacrifice, repentance, and prayer, faithful Catholics eagerly await the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The holiest day in the Christian religion, Easter is a time of renewal, rebirth, and redemption.

At the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, the celebration begins on Palm Sunday and contiues with events throughout the week, culminating in a beautiful, outdoor Easter liturgy. Everyone is welcome to join in these faith-filled events:

Palm Sunday Mass
The liturgy will include a presentation of the Passion according to Mark, and a liturgical re-enactment of Christ's triumphant entry into the city of Jerusalem.

Way of the Cross Presentation
Experience this dramatic, prayerful presentation of Pope John Paul II's scriptural Way of the Cross.

Holy Week Tenebrae
Patterned after a centuries-old form of prayer, this service will invite you to reflect through scripture, writings of the saints, singing of psalms, and long, contemplative silences.

Holy Thursday Mass
An evening liturgy of the Lord's Supper will recall the "Washing of the Feet" and the institution of the priesthood.

Good Friday Outdoor Way of the Cross
Walk with Veronica, Herod, Mary Magdalene, Barabbas, and many other men and women of Jesus' time, as they share their stories on that fateful day so many years ago.

El Pesame
A Good Friday service in Spanish calling for the faithful to offer condolences to the Blessed Mother.

Holy Saturday Mass
The Easter Vigil Mass includes a Service of Light, the Liturgy of the Word, Liturgy of Initiations, and the Eucharist.

Easter Sunday Mass
The celebration of Christ's Resurrection takes place in the beautiful, outdoor Shrine Amphitheatre.
