Dear Friends,

This issue of Oblates Magazine shares stories not only about the works of the Missionary Oblates, but also about those who work hand-in-hand with them to make an even greater impact on the lives of needy people. You will read about the good works of Fr. John Gordon, O.M.I. who spends much of his time working to save the lives of newborns in Florida who might not otherwise have a chance to survive. His lifesaving work is crucial for these fragile little ones.

Also inside this issue are devotional articles which I hope will enrich your prayer time through a deeper understanding of the Church’s teachings. You will learn about the roots of Marian devotion, and find out why a statue of Our Lady of the Rosary is being hidden as a “refugee” in Sri Lanka. Another story features one of the great Doctors of the Church, St. Augustine of Hippo. This saint, who is regarded as one of the greatest Christian theologians, led a fascinating and eventful life.

Please take the time to browse through the pages of beautiful devotional gifts that you may request. Your donations toward these items benefit the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate as we serve poor and needy people in the United States and more than 70 countries throughout the world. I thank you for your support.

I will continue to keep you in my prayers for your support of our Oblate ministries. Thank you.

Your friend in Christ,
Fr. John Madigan, O.M.I.
