Each year, thousands of pilgrims from all
over the world join the Oblates in their prayers for healing
during Our Lady of the Snows Healing Novena. They come
with hope in their hearts and prayer on their tongues.
They come seeking relief from pain, grief, sorrow, and
other burdens of life. They come seeking healing.
Since the time of Jesus, healing has
always been a sign of God’s power. Healings have
served to strengthen the faith of those who believe. When
the sick flocked to Jesus, He sent them on their way healed,
saying to them, “Your faith has made you well.”
(Mark 5:34, Luke 8:48)
These Novena pilgrims pray that their
faith will make them well, too. They gather in unison to
honor the blessed mother and to seek her intercession.
Uniting their petitions, the faithful pilgrims hope that
together, the Lord will hear and answer them. Many ask
for healing of spiritual, emotional, and physical afflictions.
Others come seeking miracles. Some say prayers of
thanks for blessings they have already received. All come
with the hope that, somehow, they will be more whole than when
they came.
And for well over 60 years, many of their
prayers have been answered. Through the years, thousands
upon thousands of people have found healing, inspiration, and
even miracles which they attribute to the intercession of Our
Lady of the Snows.
The Annual Healing Novena to Our Lady of
the Snows will run from July 28 - August 5. Mass is held
each evening beginning at 7:30 p.m. followed by a candlelight
rosary procession.
A different topic is addressed each night
on issues such as: financial, emotional, spiritual, and
physical healing. In addition to the nine Masses, two
workshops focused on healing will also be held during the
novena.
Remember, O most gracious
Virgin Mary,
that never was it known
that anyone who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help, or sought
thy intercession was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence,
I fly unto thee, O Virgin of Virgins,
my Mother; to thee do I come,
before thee I stand, sinful
and sorrowful;
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.
