Youth Sing Praise
With only one week of preparation, nearly 100 high school students will perform a full-scale musical at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows.
This performance will be the product of Youth Sing Praise, one of the programs offered by the Shrine’s Youth Ministry.  Youth Sing Praise is a week-long experience for students who demonstrate not only serious vocal and theatrical talent, but also a dedication to applying their talents to service the Christian community.
Despite the daunting task of learning and rehearsing for a play, the young people at Youth Sing Praise also find time for recreational and spiritual activities.
Youth Sing Praise will take place June 12-20.  The performance will be on Saturday, June 19, at 7: 00 p.m., at the Shrine’s Outdoor Amphitheatre.  Admission is free.
This year, Youth Sing Praise will be performing Godspell.
Godspell is a musical based upon the Gospel of Matthew.  The musical tells the story of Christ’s days on earth, set into a contemporary form.  The story begins with John the Baptist calling followers to be baptized.  Afterwards, the musical follows the Apostles to various New York sites, where they sing and act out stories from Scripture.
