I can’t wait to hear from you!

Q. Dear Fr. Lou, I was so surprised when I opened up the Oblates magazine for January and February and saw an article about a cousin of mine: Father Ted Pfeifer. My two sisters and myself would very much appreciate, if and when the film is released, you would be kind enough to let us know. Also, is Bishop Pfeifer still Bishop of the San Angelo, Texas, diocese. We have, over the years, lost touch with this part of our family.
Thank you, Father Lou, and God Bless You!
Rita F.

A. First of all, there was a misprint in the last issue of Oblates about Fr. Ted Pfeifer, O.M.I. The last issue said that Fr. Ted was assassinated in the Sierra Madre Mountains, but there was only an attempted assassination. Fr. Ted actually still serves in Mexico, today. I apologize for any confusion. The movie about Fr. Ted premiered in San Antonio on August 6 of last year. Plans for further release are still unknown, but I’ll keep my eyes open for it.

Bishop Mike Pfeifer, O.M.I., is still the bishop of the diocese of San Angelo, Texas. You can send him a letter at: PO Box 1829, San Angelo, TX 76902-1829. Thanks for writing to me, Rita.

Q. Father Louis Studer, I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed Margaret Peterson's poem, The Tabernacle. And I hope you don't mind my sending you a poem for Valentine's Day?
Mercy F.

A. Thank you for the kind words, Mercy. I’m sure Ms. Peterson appreciates your compliment about her poem. The St. Valentine’s Day poem that you sent me was lovely. However, we’re currently not accepting any unsolicited submissions for Oblates magazine. At one point, we had open submissions, but we simply became too flooded with articles and poems. We’ve received a lot of material that we enjoy, but have no space to use. Thanks for sending me your wonderful poem.
