Our Lady
of

Guadalupe

On Saturday, September 3, the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows will be holding a dedication of a new devotional site to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Many people are excited to have this devotional site added to the Shrine grounds.

The spirit of Our Lady of Guadalupe has drawn millions of pilgrims to the Basilica in Mexico for many years. The Shrine to Our Lady receives more pilgrims than any other site in the Western Hemisphere. The Blessed Mother, in her faithful humility and as intercessor for our needs, brings a message of love and salvation to all peoples.

The late Pope John Paul II held a strong devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe. His first Apostolic visit outside of Rome was to her Basilica. In fact, he was the first pope to ever travel to the Basilica.

In his words from Ecclesia in America, “The appearance of Mary to the native Juan Diego on the hill of Tepeyac in 1531 had a decisive effect on evangelization. Its influence greatly overflows the boundaries of Mexico spreading to the whole continent ... Consequently, not only in Central and South America, but in North America as well, the Virgin of Guadalupe is venerated as queen of all America.”

The staff at the Shrine cannot wait to receive pilgrims who can pray at our site to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Please, join us for the prayerful celebration of the dedication on September 3. For more information, please visit www.snows.org.
