The spirit of Healing and Hope lives upon the grounds of the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. From the Lourdes Grotto, where pilgrims light candles in prayerful reverence, to the Shrine Amphitheatre, where outdoor liturgies explode with song, both serenity and inspiration welcome travelers to the Shrine.

Nestled away from the world, the Shrine is a peaceful haven away from the bustle of everyday life. It is a perfect place to offer up one’s prayers to God.

At the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, healing and hope is more than just a motto. It is the core of the ministry at the Shrine, to grace pilgrims with the strength to live their lives, whether in times of trial or ease.

Every year, from July 28 to August 5, the Shrine celebrates a Healing and Hope Novena to encapsulate this ministry into nine nights of intense prayer and devotion to Our Lady of the Snows. These prayers focus upon themes of healing and hope spanning many needs, from physical to spiritual and from social to familial. On the last day, August 5, the Feast of Our Lady of the Snows, participants celebrate a night of thanksgiving for all of the blessings the Good Father has given.

Each celebration begins at 7:30 p.m. with a Mass followed by a candlelight rosary procession. Thousands of pilgrims come to the Shrine during these hours to pray and meditate. The Shrine cordially invites anyone in need of rejuvenation to come to the novena and experience the feeling of healing and hope that runs through these wonderful grounds.
