Dear Friends,

Some may think that it is too early to prepare for Christmas, but, truth be told, I don’t think the warmth of this glorious season could come any sooner.

More than 2,000 years ago, Our Savior was born of the Virgin Mary in a humble manger in Bethlehem. Today, Christmas helps us keep that heavenly Child, Our Savior, alive in our hearts. During the Christmas season, Christians everywhere become like the angels of His birth. With child-like innocence, our hearts glow with warmth as we pay tribute to the birth of the Prince of Peace - the
Infant Child who taught the world how to love.

This issue of Oblates Magazine will help prepare you for this glorious Christmas season. You will read about how two orphans found a home on Christmas Eve at an Oblate orphanage in Haiti. You will also learn about the history of St. Nicholas and about a very special place, St. Francis Xavier Parish, where I once served as Parish Administrator.

I hope you enjoy this edition of Oblates Magazine and that you find it in your heart to offer a Christmas donation in support of our ministries with the poor. In
gratitude for your kindness, I would be honored to send you one or more of our blessed Christmas gifts which are also featured in this magazine.

Finally, I pray that your Christmas will be even more joyous and fulfilling, knowing that your generous support is helping my fellow missionaries spread Christ’s message of peace and love with the poorest of the poor this Christmas. In gracious thanks, my fellow Oblates and I will be remembering you and yours in our prayers throughout this holy season.

In the love of Our Savior,

Fr. John Madigan, O.M.I.
