What prayers do you need answered at this time? Perhaps you are praying for healing for a loved one. Or maybe you pray for financial security. Whatever your needs may be – know that God is listening.
God heard the prayers of a Christian couple in Rome on August 5, 352 A.D. The couple did not know what to do with their wealth, and so they turned to God for an answer. In a dream they were told to construct a church where the snow falls.
Although the dream confused them, the couple soon discovered that God had answered their prayers. Snow had fallen on the Esquiline Hill despite the sweltering heat of early August. The couple knew this was a sign from God to build a church there in honor of Our Blessed Mother. Today that church is the Basilica of St. Mary Major, one of the major churches of Rome.
Won’t you please join me in lifting our prayers to heaven on August 5, the feast of Our Lady of the Snows? Here is how you can participate in this magnificent celebration of faith:
- Send me your personal prayer intentions. They will be remembered during Mass at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows.
- Select one of our beautiful Our Lady of the Snows devotional gifts in appreciation for your donation. These gifts are a wonderful way to keep the inspiration of Our Lady of the Snows with you throughout the year.
- Support the worldwide ministries of the Missionary Oblates with a donation. Your donation will support the Oblates throughout the world; from the bitter cold of the Arctic to the sweltering heat of Africa.
- Have an Our Lady of the Snows Votive Candle lit for your special intentons at the Basiclicia of Mary Major in Rome, site of the "Miracle of the Snow." or you can have a Snows Votive Candle lit at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows.
And remember – God hears your prayers!.
